About Us

After recognizing the fact that STEM opportunities, specifically computer science, lacked representation in our community and among the young youth, Salma and Monica decided to create GenZCoders to provide students the opportunity to explore the vast array of technology. Ethar Hussein has recently also joined the team. We are all committed to target Generation Z, "GenZ", and are committed to exposing them to the rising field of computer science through hosting workshops not only teaching students how to code, but to apply their skills in computing to further improve our community. Our workshops are hosted through partnering libraries and activity centers through the suburban Chicagoland area. As our motto insists, we are committed to creating a group of leaders in tech, one line of code at a time.

Code-a-Thons

Code-a-Thons are an intensive and more advanced alternative to the 'Workshop' activity that GenZCoders offers. Our Code-A-Thons involve students who have pursued and are familiar to the vast world of coding. Activities include Coding Competitions, problem-solving activities, and identifying solutions to a vast array of algorithms.

Coding

Workshops

GenZCoders hosts workshops in surrounding libraries and community centers in the suburbs of Chicago. Our workshop outline incorporates the understanding of broad programming concepts, writing code on your own, creating games, and many other activities. Hands-On

GenZCoders encourages the exploration of all types of technology. We want to teach Generation Z that Computer Science isn't all about coding, but can also incorporate fun hands-on activities! The goal of these activites is to exemplify alternate methods to coding in addition to exploring the hardware aspect of Computer Science.

OUR GOAL

"Coding - everyone thinks it's a superpower. And so when you feel like, 'I've learned how to code,' and you say to your mom or the girl sitting next to you, 'I know how that app is built, I know the logic behind how that was created' - that's powerful"
